Software Architect/Managing Consultant

Location: Richmond, VA

Managing Consultant’s at Dominion Digital are responsible for analyzing business needs, defining system requirements, communicating architectural vision, conceptualizing alternative architectural approaches and leading technical development teams using Agile methods. In addition, they contribute to our technology capability and culture of business value and technical excellence.

A Managing Consultant’s role goes beyond technology, into leadership, team coordination and people management, they serve as role models for our technical staff by mentoring the team as well as inspiring them to become mentors and leaders themselves.

Responsibilities

  • Design high-quality application architecture that meets customer requirements
  • Articulating components of the entire application and its interfaces, from a functional and technical level, for clients and the development team
  • Lead and foster the development of high performing technical teams to meet strategic business and technology objectives
  • Developing relationships with key users as well as business and technology partners to ease coordination and communication
  • Lead technical performance assessments of systems, applications and databases
  • Ensuring development quality, cost and time objectives are met
  • Designing standard J2EE/Microsoft .Net solutions
  • Ensuring development standards and best practices are followed

Minimum Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to analyze business requirements and understand business value
  • Experience leading and developing a team of application developers
  • Broad knowledge of information technology, including distributed transaction processing, middleware, rules engines and network communication
  • Knowledge of design patterns concepts and software architecture concepts
  • Experience estimating, planning, designing and implementing n-tier software architectures
  • Mature design skills and the ability to clearly articulate and clarify design tradeoffs to clients

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Enterprise Application Integration Systems and Enterprise Resource Planning Systems
  • Ability to realize business value using Agile methodologies
  • Masters Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Information Systems

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science,  Computer Engineering, Information Systems or a related field of study, with at least eight years of experience in consulting or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
